Communication Projects with Carol Anande

Hello my name is CAROLine ANANDE uliwa 34, working in the creative industry as a Culture Journalist, Singer, Poet for over 11yrs. Welcome to a quick look at some of the projects I've headed in links below.

Back in 2010 I was involved in creating a soundtrack with exchange students from the Nedherlands inside the Kilimanjaro Film Institute in Arusha, Tanzania. It was for their short docu film titled 'Sauti Spice'. Soundtrack-Accoustic Afro-Jazz

In 2018 I was the project coordinator for Shairi la Amani, a poetry competition in honor of the US Embassy bombings in East Africa. The project sponsored by the US embassy, involved sourcing manuscripts from youths in secondary & primary schools all over Tanzania.

It was just for two months, but we got over 500 manuscripts, managed to run a fantastic workshop (with the country's renowned poets) for the top 50 as well crown the winner. Who won cash and got to perform in front of dignitaries of the US Embassy & Tanzania Government officials, where a small monument was placed at the National Museum of Tanzania honoring the victims of the US embassy bombings in Dar es Salaam. Shairi la Amani-WAKA

In 2019 I was involved in curating a soundtrack, from singing, songwriting to composition. That was for a short docu film created by Rida School of Journalism in Tanzania. Here I got to share prose and sing a soundtrack that I composed in lyric & song with Emma Mapao a renowned jazz guitarist in Tanzania. The school was working to sensitize the public on gender based violence stats in the country. Safina - Soundtrack/Voice over & Afro-Jazz

In 2020 to date I've been working with Culture and Development East Africa on a project called 'Okoa Mimea ya Asili-OMA translating save native plants. As a culture journalist I was mortified when I learned that native plants of where I live are totally endangered. After writing some pieces I bumped into Purpose Climate Lab they sponsored the first pilot of this project which I coordinated. In it we worked to sensitize the public reaching over 25 million Tanzania via a media campaign #okoamimeayaasili . We hosted a workshop for local botanists and made a documentary that I co-produced, featured and provided captions for Save Native Plants-Coastal EA We are still working to continue this pursuit of growing and nurturing native plants for our ecosystem restoration.
